How to Repurpose Quality Content

Ever spend hours creating content for your blog, social media outlets, your email list, and then even MORE on your “freebies” on your website only to find that you have wasted hours if not days spinning your wheels and feeling like you don’t have much to show for it? Been there, done that. Here’s my method for repurposing incredible content you already have.

Today you’ll have the information and tools to maximize your content's potential and reach a wider audience by strategically repurposing your valuable assets. Learn the art of breathing new life into your content and creating multiple touchpoints for your audience to engage with.

1. Identify Evergreen Content

Uncover your evergreen content pieces that have stood the test of time and continue to provide value to your audience. These timeless gems will serve as the foundation for your repurposing efforts. Use website traffic metrics, your most liked and saved posts from Instagram, or even your most opened or responded to newsletter to discover what your audience can’t get enough of! This is a gold mine to uncovering what’s worked before and will likely be of interest again.

2. Choose Repurposing Formats

Explore various repurposing formats such as blog posts, infographics, videos, podcasts, social media snippets, and more. Adapt your content to different platforms and mediums to cater to diverse audience preferences. Take a look at where your target audience shows up most, and make sure that you repurpose content that fits that platform!

I’ve seen this with in podcasting with my favorite hosts. They’ll record video of their podcast as well so they’ll share that video to YouTube, the podcast will air, and they have video content to share on Instagram, TikTok, and other channels all from one piece of content! Think of ways you can use one thing you’ve done to create more.

3. Create Visual Assets

Transform your written content into visually appealing assets. Design eye-catching graphics, shareable images, and informative visual representations to enhance engagement and capture attention. Charts, checklists, and cheat sheets are great to use in both social media posts, as graphics in your blogs and emails and create eye catching content for Pinterest and website freebies. Get creative on how your repurpose your content- just make sure it stays cohesive and on-brand.

This can extend the life of any piece of content. By creating different infographics from your blog post for Pinterest or 3 different Story graphics for Instagram from one YouTube video, you can diversify and extend the content by miles.

4. Craft Engaging Social Media Posts

Leverage your repurposed content to create compelling social media posts. Craft attention-grabbing captions, include snippets or key takeaways, and use relevant hashtags to increase visibility and reach. Social Media is king these days, and with the amount of competition you are up against, don’t be afraid to say the same things over and over. Remember, most of your audience won’t be consuming every piece of content you put out, so while it may feel redundant to you, it could be the first time they are actually learning the information that is being highlighted by your content!

Here are some examples of engaging content:

• Quotes
• Recaps
• Takeaways
• Lessons learned
• Biggest insights
• Ah Ha moments
• Behind the scenes
and more!

5. Explore Video Content

Dive into the world of video content by repurposing written or audio content into engaging videos. Create tutorials, interviews, or behind-the-scenes clips to connect with your audience on a deeper level. With Instagram lives, and stories, the need for over polished, over produced videos is no longer such a pressure. Have a great thought that you want to share? Hop on your stories (filter or no filter) and tell your audience who you are and why you are the expert they need to help them conquer their challenges.

Video reigns supreme these days so don’t be shy and show up!

6. Extend Your Content's Lifespan

Extend the lifespan of your content by repurposing it in different contexts and adapting it to new trends or events. Keep your content relevant and continually provide value to your audience. Rotate through your content posting so you aren’t putting the same advice out on every platform at the same time. Staggering the content drip will allow you to catch parts of your audience that are on different platforms at different times. This also helps you feel like you aren’t saying the same thing all over the place at the same time.

7. Measure and Optimize

This may be the most important note of all. Track the performance of your repurposed content using analytics and insights. Analyze what works best for your audience and make data-driven decisions to optimize your repurposing strategy. Content you love to create may not be the content that your audience needs. Instead of spending value time creating content that doesn’t connect with your target market, use data to work smarter, not harder!

Creating a revolving door or repurposed content requires some forethought, but once you get started, you will be amazed at how much time and brain space you free up!

Give these a try and let me know how it goes for you in the comments.
